“Elyxer was registered in 2016. It was formed on the realisation that my personal fulfilment required that I somehow help make the world a better place. This was driven by a vision of collaborating with like-minded leaders, intent on creating beautiful businesses. Innovative commercial environments, where products, people and places would not merely survive, but find a symbiotic equilibrium that allows each element to thrive.” – Melvi Todd
Much like an “elixir”, our aim is to ease the troubles of our clients. While the spelling of Elyxer is a little different, just like the alchemists of old, we treat every situation or challenge as unique – formulating individualised and dynamic plans to best remedy, vitalise and improve. We can help you improve strategic alignment and focus, reconfigure goals, identify future competencies and enhance agility. We also support you through every step of the implementation process, ensuring laser-like focus is maintained while remaining open to the dynamic changes that your context may require.
Elyxer: “Elixir” with a “y” because a clear vision of ‘why’, shared by clients, consultants, and stakeholders, is the single biggest catalyst for business evolution.
Elyxer’s initial logo was primarily a tree and a lightbulb, linking knowledge and experience to innovation. It was a start – and as the vision grew, it inspired new elements.
The fern leaf was brought in to symbolise the organic nature of sustainable growth. The fern is also highly successful, spreading above and below ground, much like the business process of incubating innovation. Growth signifies change and if you aren’t learning and evolving, you are dying. However, true growth is not straightforward or unrestricted. Some things need to be “pruned” for better overall and long-term results.
The heart represents love as central to any healthy business strategy. Putting people at the centre of every decision – including, empowering and appreciating them daily. Getting people to love what your business does and how. And having sincere appreciation and respect for the natural environment, making authentic decisions rather than simply ticking boxes.
The infinity symbol represents the ongoing nature of evolution. It also represents the equilibrium of various elements, required for sustainable growth and success. With the right combination of inspiration and attitude, the possibilities are unlimited.
The tree grew bigger and its roots deeper, representing the strength of collaborative efforts rooted in shared values. It’s one blue leaf a reminder that although experience has been gained from many different projects, every collaboration is treated and approached as unique, with equal levels of effort and enthusiasm.
Melvi is both scientist and strategist – qualified and experienced in both capacities, with a specialisation in innovation. She is driven by passion for people and the planet, with a heart for making this world a better place to be.
What Melvi loves about the intersection of science and strategy is the fact that it represents progress and hope:
“We will never be done, because new technologies are continually unlocking our ability to understand how things work today, how they worked in the past, and how they are likely to work in the future.”
Apart from her consulting work, Melvi also loves inspiring others in her position as leadership development facilitator with the Stellenbosch Business School Executive Development.
